Sorry it’s been a bit quiet here, for the last few weeks I’ve been buried under a heap of quilts! I say heap, but it’s really only two…
The first is my modern medallion quilt, or maybe it should be called the tv quilt as I love sitting cuddled up in front of the tv after the kids are in bed doing a bit more hand quilting on it, or stitching down the binding, I think I’ll be quite lost after I’ve finally finished it! This ones kept me busy since mid January, and I have to say I’ve enjoyed every stitch so far, but I did have a tough time trying to get a good photo of it, another job for after bed time I think!
Finally I’ve finished sewing together the front and back of my Modern Medallion Quilt from the handstitched class I took! For me it’s something of a record, only 3 months and a lot of hand stitching later I have a beautiful quilt I’m so pleased with! The king sized quilt on my bed took me an entire year to complete – and that was entirely machined pieced and quilted.
This morning my lovely son gave me one of the nicest presents ever – he went for an extra long nap! For the second time this week!!! This meant a very productive morning sewing, yay! (Who needs a clean and tidy house?!)
I managed to get the patchwork borders and storm-at-sea blocks attached to my modern medallion quilt in the first long nap, although I’m still working my way through all that satin stitching as you can see!
Here’s a peek at my latest finish, I call it ‘shades of green’, have a lovely weekend!
After taking a break for a rather hectic holiday season, I’m finally back into indulging in a good old bit of sewing! One of the presents I received for Christmas was the rather lovely Renfrew top pattern from Sewaholic, I’ve already made a couple of different tops from this pattern and its fab! It’s so simple to make and only takes a couple of hours from start to finish – it takes me longer to cut out the pieces than to sew them all up!
